Bone diseases you need to be careful of

In the current era, while people are paying heed to their Smartphones, they are ignoring one thing that is much more important to them and that is their bones. Yes. A person needs to look after his or her bones as they tend to lose their strength as time passes. They develop disorders or conditions that can create impairment in them or abnormal development. This results in weakening of the bones, inflamed joints and thus pain. There are some diseases that can cause enormous loss of bone strength and density. These diseases include:

Osteoporosis

This is quite a well-known bone disease today and is marked by an abnormal loss of bone mass and decaying of bone structure in aged adults. This tends to weaken the bones and increases the chances of breaks and fractures. This disease can be prevented through the right nutrition and exercise.

Paget's Disease

This disease is a disorder of cells called osteoblasts and osteoclasts that leads to the breakdown, rebuilding and remolding of bone tissue. Bones become thick and enlarged and also brittle due to abnormal structural development.

Bone Cancers

This is a serious problem and begins either as a primary form of cancer or as the secondary form of cancer when cancer travels from other parts of the body such as lungs or breasts. Primary bone cancers include leukemia, osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma etc.

Rickets

This is a preventable bone disease that mainly affects young children due to the deficiency of vitamin D. Rickets can lead to weak, brittle bones and muscle pain.

These are some out of many bone diseases. Prevention, however, can greatly help in avoiding them.
